Sophia Bush is an iconic star of the American entertainment industry who has strong footholds in both television and films. Celebrated actor of the ‘One Tree Hill’ fame, she has showed her brilliance in both small and big screen with her stupendous performances. While her character of Brooke Davis in ‘One Tree Hill’ made her a household name, it was her big screen appearances in films like ‘John Tucker Must Die’, ‘The Hitcher’, ‘The Narrows’ and ‘Chalet Girl’ that brought her worldwide fame. Interestingly, unlike other budding actors who stick to their comfort zone, Bush has time and again moved out and played different characters. From comedy to horror, romantic to thriller, she has tried it all. Since 2014, she has been adoring the small screen as Detective Erin Lindsay in the NBC police procedural drama series Chicago P.D. Additionally, she played the character of Lindsay in other Chicago spin offs including ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, ‘Chicago Med’ and ‘Chicago Justice.

Sophia Bush was born on July 8, 1982 in Pasadena, California to Maureen and Charles William Bush. She was the only child of the couple. Her mother ran a photography studio and her father worked as an advertising and beauty photographer.

She studied at the Westridge School for Girls and graduated in 2000. While at school, it was compulsory for students to participate in the theatre arts program. Irritated by the condition, she however complied. It was after doing the play that Bush fell in love with the prospect of acting and being someone else on stage. At the age of 17, she was named Tournament of Roses Parade Queen.

Later, she enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC) for journalism major. There, she was a member and Social Chair of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. However, she left the University in 2003 without completing her degree.

Sophia Bush’s debut for the big screen came in 2002 film ‘National Lampoon's Van Wilder’ opposite Ryan Reynolds. After this, she was seen in a couple of television shows including ‘Nip/Tuck’, ‘Teenage Witch’ and the HBO film ‘Point of Origin’

In 2003, she bagged the role of Kate Brewster for ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’ but was replaced by Claire Danes as she seemed too young for the role.

Sophia Bush became a household name when she landed herself the role of Brooke Davis for the WB television series. In the series, she started off as a trouble-making vixen who became a fiercely loyal friend eventually. Her character soon became a huge fan favourite.

2006 was a busy year for Sophia. She starred in the 20th Century Fox comedy film ‘John Tucker Must Die’. The film was a commercial success, earning $60 million worldwide. Next, she was seen in Buena Vista Pictures' supernatural thriller ‘Stay Alive’. The film opened at number three in the U.S. box office.

In 2007, she played Grace Andrews in the remake of the classic horror film ‘The Hitcher’ opposite Sean Bean. Bush followed it up with the François Velle's independent film ‘The Narrows’ in 2008. Cast alongside Kevin Zegers and Vincent D'Onofrio, in it, she played a beautiful, intelligent and self-assured character of Kathy Popovich. Kathy is an NYU student who attracts the attention of Mike Manadoro who has shady connections. The film was based on Tim McLoughlin's novel ‘Heart of the Old Country’. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

In 2009, Sophia was seen in the independent comedy ‘Table for Three’. The film focused on the tangled relationships between couples and roommates. The film co-starred Brandon Routh and Jesse Bradford. Later in 2011, she starred in the British rom-com ‘Chalet Girl’.

In 2012, she was seen in the CBS sitcom ‘Partners’. Premiering on September 24, the series was cancelled after six episodes. The remaining seven episodes of the series' though unaired in the United States, were aired by various international outlets.

In 2013, she starred in Passion Pit's music video ‘Carried Away’.Same year, she got a leading role in the television pilot ‘Hatfields & McCoys’ and as Det. Erin Lindsay for 11 episodes in ‘Chicago Fire’.

In 2014, she starred as Det Erin Lindsay in NBC’s Chicago Fire police spin-off ‘Chicago P.D’ for 84 episodes. She reprised her role for ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’. She also frequently appeared on the third Chicago franchise series, ‘Chicago Med’ and in an episode for the recent ‘Chicago Justice’.

Sophia Bush received a major breakthrough of her career when she bagged herself the role of Brooke Davis for the WB television series ‘One Tree Hill’. In Same year, at the Vail Film Festival, she was honoured with the Rising Star Award.

While working on ‘One Tree Hill’ Sophia Bush fell in love with her co-star, Chad Michael Murray. The two got married in April 2005, but separated just five months later. Their divorce was legalized in 2006.

Following her divorce, Sophia Bush was in a relationship with couple of actors and co-stars including James Lafferty, Austin Nichols and later Google program head Dan Fredinburg.

Apart from acting, Bush enjoys horseback riding, boxing, and photography. She also enjoys reading and spending time with her friends.

She is a passionate philanthropist and an activist. She is an advocate of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust that preserves the biodiversity in the Maasai tribal lands and helps in educating the tribal community.

She also takes time out to serve children battling with serious medical ailments at the Art of Elysium. She uses her social networking sites including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and her blog to raise awareness of world events and fundraisers in which she takes part. She has raised money for Fuck Cancer, Run For the Gulf, and Global Green Gulf Relief funds.
