Google COLAB build

Has anyone tried out the google colab build, or have any idea what the differences are?
I took a break from DFL for the last few weeks because I kind of gave up after the latest builds stopped working on data center cards (T100 mostly).

Wondering if this fork was to help resolve that issue?  Hoping someone in here has used it.

I haven't used it, but i've read that google colab works slightly differently so modifications had to be done to the code to make it work.

All features should be the same though.

It's not so much a fork (it clones the original DFL repo) as it is a wrapper that automates the installation, google drive integration, and gives you a different front end UI to work with to compensate for the fact that Colab doesn't give you a standard CLI or OS GUI to work with. The underlying extract/train/convert batch files seem to be the same. Using it reminds me a bit of using an Excel VBA/Form based application.

Colab works fine.
I used it to extract ~300k images, splitting it by 50k, because session limited to 12 hours.
We just need to create a video tutorial.

Hi, I am a newbie here.
I just wondered is it possible that google detect us training deepfake and ban this kind of training.
Thanks

google will not to do that.

May I know why ? Thanks

Against GCP to actively, visually, monitor what people are doing.  They want to advertise anonymity and privacy so people will purchase GCP.

Google advertising... anonymity? LOL. They make their living by tracking what people do with their services. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't per-se e able to track deepfake training, but they might throttle or somehing if you are hitting a GPU hard for 12 hours consistently.

They said no crypto mining,u try, they ban u... So I think that they can know what we are doing. More and more people oppose deepfake, maybe they will limit us.

Google is positioning Colab, as a platform for experiments with machine learning. And they have enough computing power for this. So, I strongly doubt that they will ban us.
They periodically disconnect me from their GPU backend for lengthy heavy calculations. But this is not a ban, but rather a timeout, which is decided by the presence of a second Google account.

What are your questions about using DFL-Colab?
I now have problems with my computer, so I can’t record a video tutorial. But I can answer your questions here.

Yes, people hate deepfake, maybe will have some laws against us, so if Google want to show that they protect society, they will ban us.

There is no law prohibiting DeepFake.
And even if Google go to ban, so that it recognizes that there is a spy on users. So, they only harm themselves.
