Short Version
I'm using a 1050ti & my advice would be to go for a better GPU if you can. The 1050ti is frustratingly close to being able to handle all the low end default settings that will give a respectable result... but not quite.
Don't get me wrong, my 1050ti gets the job done, slowly, but there always seems to be a recommended setting or value that I can't quite reach without getting a OOM error.
Long Version
128 resolution & batch:8 is fine with optimizer:2 ... but ae_dims: 256 (half the default), e_ch & d_ch dims capped at 38 & 19 just missing the default.
Using optimizer:3 I can get e_ch & d_ch dims up to their defaults of 42 & 21, but then I get OOM if I try to enable even a single one of any of the other settings (eg: powers, clipgrad, ca_weights, learn mask, etc)
OR... keeping the dims back at 38 & 19, optimizer:3 will allow Batch:10, but again, no other setting can be enabled or I get an OOM error.
Also, I only seem to be able to run training at these settings for approx 2.5 hours before I get a OOM error, although that could be caused by a background process in my OS starting up, or something else I'm too stupid to realise.
Of course your results will vary with the optimizer settings depending on your CPU & RAM, what other processes you have running, etc, but I still think if you buy a 1050ti you'll end up wishing you went for something better, even if it's only slightly better. But if it's all you can get, or like me, it's your only option, then it'll get the job done with some experimenting with the settings... and a good bit of patience (approx: 2500ms-3000ms per it)
That's probably more than you asked for, but hopefully it helps you or someone else.
