Long time lurker (over a yr).. finally have some hardware to play with.

Just wanted to say hi, finally have a semi-decent system to start playing with DFL's and playing with family vids and fotos, etc until I get better.

Thanks for the AMD/OpenCL build! I'm running a new Ryzen 3600x with a XFX RX580 8gb.

BTW, technically which video card is the fastest or best for training? AMD or nVidia? Seems like its been tuned better for cuda but AMD/OpenCL is more stable.

Cheers for now!

Max!

Feel free to post your performance figures in our SAE spreadsheet, most of us run CUDA or Colab here and we don't have many users posting about AMD GPUs performance.
As your GPU is very close to 1060 6GB in games performance wise why don't you try out my settings or other of similar Nvidia GPU and compare, in theory you should be able to get higher batch sizes due to additional 2GB of vram.
Here is the link to spreadsheet:

Thanks! When I get home later tonight maybe I'll post to it but is there a benchmark or a per-defined set of images for running the training on and testing speed?

It seems that everyone posting up speeds would be all over the place because if they're doing their own fakes and images/sets, then the learning for everyone is different and hence different speed.

Kinda like CPU/videocard benchmarks, there's a standard or programs that everyone runs to see how fast they go.

Do we just use the Robert Downey jr/Shilo sets that are included to test and benchmark on H128 and 8/16?

Also, I don't get optimizer modes on the AMD/openGL side. Is this correct?

Thanks!

The spreadsheet is more for users to see what their GPU can handle in terms of settings. This is more geared towards the SAE model on DFL. Yes the reported speeds will vary, but that wasn't the intent of the spreadsheet.

Welcome from a fellow AMD user, and congratulations on your new gear. Feel free to PM me if you have any AMD specific issues (A few of us have had problems with face extractions, but that might just be on specific AMD cards, and not a problem with AMD generally. I'll be curious to hear of your experiences and results.)

Also:  You are correct - there is no optimizer mode for AMD / openCLSSE

Cheers

Unless I'm reading it wrong, somebody went into the spreadsheet (after me and pringlesringles??) and wiped out a bunch of data yest or modified the spreadsheet.

maybe its best to not allow anon editing and only approved changes? otherwise this will still keep happening?
